About Us
Malabar Educational Research Centre LLP (MERC LLP) is dedicated to advancing educational methodologies and academic excellence. With over 25 years in curriculum development, textbook distribution, and publishing, MERC LLP has formed a new LLP to expand its focus on NCERT and international curricula, including the Cambridge International curriculum. Recently, MERC launched its first international unit, MERC International, in the UAE as part of its Middle East expansion strategy. The company also introduced a comprehensive Malayalam learning series for KG to Grade 8, developed by experienced language professionals. Currently, MERC provides textbooks and learning resources to 400 educational institutions, continually enhancing its impact on education locally and globally.
Exciting upcoming endeavors
We will soon come out with the Digital App to support these books which are under design and development stage now. We are embarking on an App to learn Malayalam, aimed at the new generation of the vast Malayali community residing outside Kerala. Many children within this community struggle to grasp their native language, thereby losing their roots to the God's own country. Our app will provide comprehensive language learning from scratch, with the added feature of accessing live teacher assistance round the clock.

Our journey began 25 years ago with the establishment of the New Malabar Book House in Thalassery, a city renowned for producing the first Malayalam-English dictionary and the first printed novel. Initially, we focused on distributing CBSE school resources from Indian publishers to a few northern districts of Kerala. Guided by a long-term vision, we hoped to establish a name for ourselves in the education sector, while ensuring the business remained a vital source of livelihood.
Founded by Mr.Rafeeque K.V from Kathiroor, Thalassery, the New Malabar Book House grew steadily with the unwavering support of his family, including several highly qualified medical professionals. Read More
Today, we are proud to be official distributors of the prestigious NCERT publications, an initiative of the Government of India. Our commitment to providing timely and dedicated service to schools has always been the cornerstone of our success. Starting from a modest beginning, we now supply educational resources to over 400 schools across Kerala.
Building on this foundation, we recently launched a new initiative, the Malabar Educational Research Centre (MERC). Leveraging our extensive experience in distributing school resources, MERC focuses on a broader range of educational needs. We have also ventured into publishing, offering the Madhumozhi series, a collection of Malayalam resources for students from preschool to Grade 8. Additionally, our product range includes English, Malayalam, and Hindi handwriting books, drawing books, and workbooks.
Over the past 25 years, many dedicated individuals have significantly contributed to our growth. Notable among them are Mr. Narayanan K., B.Sc., PGDCM, MBA, who played a crucial role during the early stages and continues to assist us from abroad; Mr. K. Abubacker, M.A., B.Ed., a retired headmaster; and Mr. Firoz, M.A., M.Ed., M.Phil. Their selfless contributions during our startup phase in the late 1990s paved the way for our development over the past 25 years.
We are now preparing to relocate to a newly constructed multipurpose office complex at Ponnyam, Thalassery, marking the next chapter of our journey.
